The latest album from Guided Meditation Treks is out on CDBaby in mp3 format! It will be available on iTunes, spotify, and other streaming providers in the coming weeks. Not to mention, the iOS and android apps for this album are almost complete and ready for release on their respective app stores. You can learn more about the album at the Vipassana page, purchase it on CDBaby, or wait a bit for it to be released in the iOS and Android app stores in the coming weeks. There will be another post when the app versions come out, but I wanted to release the mp3 album first, just to keep with the tradition of Guided Meditation Treks! I hope you enjoy it!
One of the fundamentals of Guided Meditation Treks is the concept of brainwave entrainment with binaural beats. Most of the meditation programs offered through this site implement some form of "binaural beats," which is a technology scientifically shown to steer your brainwaves towards certain frequencies. With this technology, your mind can be coaxed into becoming sleepy, focused, relaxed, or even creative. Binaural Beats are embedded into Guided Meditation Treks albums, but I have also been offering a smartphone app called "Binaural" which lets you generate these tones on your own. Now, I've released a web app that does the same thing! This online app lets you generate your own binaural beats using nothing more than an HTML5-enabled web browser!

My friend, Robin D Bruce, has released a new book called 40 Meditations: Stories Inspired by Yoga and Practices for Transformation, available now at Amazon. I can definitely vouch for this book, and I even helped do a little bit of grammar editing. Robin gives us 40 personal stories that arose through her experience with yoga and meditation. Some of them are touching; some of them are embarrassing; and some of them are downright hilarious. Then, each chapter ends with a meditation exercise and a journaling exercise. Robin has been doing this for over a decade, so there's plenty of good stories and great meditations in this book, and it will keep you in a zen state for a long time, that's for sure! Check it out now on Amazon!
(Texas, December 2015) – Guided Meditation Treks, a spoken word meditation sound healing project created by Russell Eric Dobda, has released a new iOS App and mp3 collection entitled “Sleep” to help listeners fall asleep quickly, enjoy a power nap, or induce a lucid dream.
The app and album are built on a foundation of several looped nature sounds such as rain, waterfalls, drone noises, birds, and other sonic soundscapes to wash over a cluttered mind and put it into a relaxed state. Binaural beats and isochronic pulses, sound healing technologies scientifically shown to alter brainwave patterns, are mixed atop the nature sounds to induce the brain into the frequencies of sleep. To top it off, the soothing and almost drowsy soft voice of Russell leads you through mindfulness practices that will have you out cold in no time or flying through the air in a vivid lucid dream if you choose.

Here's a guest blog post I wrote on SelfGrowth.com about drama cycles, and how you can cleanse your own drama cycles with my new app for iOS!

Think you aren’t any good at meditation? Wondering how to find the time to meditate? Too much going through your head to focus? Sit back and relax while you watch the images in your mind’s eye and connect with your higher self using this new meditation app for iOS.
As a follow up to the previous Guided Meditation Treks and Binaural apps released earlier this summer, tune into the latest release, Guided Meditation Treks Volume II. Four new spoken word guided meditations combine guided image therapy with binaural beats, soothing sounds of nature, and this time ambient music help you to work through real-life situations and improve your outlook.
"Cleanse a drama cycle” will help you work through an old pattern and use new ways of thinking. “Program a Quartz Crystal” will show you how to use your intention to metaphysically program a physical quartz crystal to run the program of your intention. “Ask Your Higher Self a Question” was the meditation that helped the author, Russell Eric Dobda, change careers. It will help you find the answer to that burning question you've been asking yourself, whatever it may be. Finally, “Send Helpful Thoughtforms to Another” is a guided meditation that will show you how to use your thoughts to help another person. Remember, thoughts are things.
This app was previously available as downloadable mp3s, but the iOS app versions allow you to control the volume levels of the individual components of each meditation to custom-tailor the sound to your preferences. Download the app or get the original mp3’s today at the Guided Meditation Treks website. These apps will help you create a space for meditation any time or any place with a smartphone.
This week, I joined Lisa Wagner on her Epic Meditations podcast. We talked about so many great subjects in a short timeframe, including meditation, guided meditation, intention, binaural beats, and even a little bit about travel and silent disco. Give a listen to her interview me as we go deep!
At first glance, Quiet Time - a stress reduction strategy used in several San Francisco middle and high schools, as well as in scattered schools around the Bay Area - looks like something out of the om-chanting 1960s. Twice daily, a gong sounds in the classroom and rowdy adolescents, who normally can't sit still for 10 seconds, shut their eyes and try to clear their minds. I've spent lots of time in urban schools and have never seen anything like it. This practice - meditation rebranded - deserves serious attention from parents and policymakers. An impressive array of studies shows that integrating meditation into a school's daily routine can markedly improve the lives of students. If San Francisco schools Superintendent Richard Carranza has his way, Quiet Time could well spread citywide. Read More...
“Consciousness creates reality,” a statement that has gained a lot of attention across various alternative media outlets around the world. Make no mistake, consciousness has been (for quite some time) studied by numerous scientists, especially in its relation to quantum physics and how it might be correlated with the nature of our reality.
What is consciousness? Consciousness includes a number of things. It’s how we perceive our world, our thoughts, being aware, our intentions and more. Read more...
There are two modes of Son Buddhist meditation: "Son in the midst of stillness" and "Son in the midst of commotion." I simply call them the "quiet" and "active" modes of meditation. Quiet meditation commonly refers to traditional seated meditation but includes any meditative form where you're not moving. Active meditation refers to meditating while in motion in the midst of daily life. Read more...
The advantage of this is that it actually doesn’t cost anything,” said Karen May, a vice president at Google, explaining how her company offers “mindfulness” classes to its employees. Mindfulness is a New Age kind of meditation that focuses on the present moment “non-judgmentally,” tracing its origins to Buddhism. The growing phenomenon was the subject of a 60 Minutes segment on Sunday, for which May and other fans of the practice were interviewed. Read More...
Binural Beats are the products of two different sounds in harmony; they produce sounds that are only heard by the brain. The effect of this can be quite calming, relaxing and meditative. There are many different types of binaural beats that can suit your specific mood and also help with various ailments. Many people have said that if you are someone who generally has trouble with quieting the mind and meditation (like me), then binaural beats are likely to have a greater affect on your overall ability to reach the higher frequency states. Furthermore, studies have shown that these beats can assist with mental clarity, more focused thought patterns, increased energy, heightened creativity and many more positive changes for your overall wellbeing. It's as if humanity has fallen into a great amnesia, forgetting our connection to the land, to each other, to the future and to the past. Organizers of The Unify Global Meditation at 3:03 pm PST on December 21 invite everyone to remember. Filmmaker, Frank Darier Baziere, has created a powerful short video that inspires a beautiful vision of something that is often overlooked and hard to describe, spirit. The Global Coherence Initiative along with The Heartmath Institute, and The Global Consciousness Project at Princeton have been studying the effects of synchronized meditation and social harmony for many years. Is it possible that A Moment Shared Around the World can actually cause lasting changes in our society? Many people seem to believe so. Read More...
